Once you are familiar with what a character sketch is, your assignment follows.
Your assignment is to do a character sketch of Crabbe. You may work alone or in pairs, but you may not have a group of more than two. The choice is yours. You will choose a minimum of 5 traits if you are working alone, and a minimum of 7 if you are working in pairs. Each trait must be followed with evidence proving that the trait that you are claiming Crabbe to have is in fact true. The evidence should be between 1-3 sentences. Each piece of evidence must be followed with a reference of where the information can be found (For example: Crabbe is kind. He is kind because… (pg. 13)). If there isn’t any page number, the trait will not be counted. Finally, each trait must be different. For example, you cannot use the traits ‘nice’ and ‘kind’ since they both mean the same thing. The best marks will come for those traits that are not as obvious to all students, so the more unique your trait (and correct), the better your mark. For example: Crabbe is rude, won’t get as many marks where there can be another, better trait like Crabbe is inconsiderate. The latter would earn more marks. This is for two reasons. The first is that rude is a very basic trait. It is also one that many people in the class may come up with. However, inconsiderate tells us that you have put thought into coming up with your trait since inconsiderate can mean rude but other things as well. As a result of this example, you may not use inconsiderate as a trait in your character sketches.

Evaluation
Your evaluation for this activity will come from the following criteria.
Traits
Here, I am looking for a minimum of 5 traits if you are working alone, and 7 if you are working in pairs. They must each be different.
Explanation
Here, you need to provide a 2-3 sentence explanation proving the trait to be true.
Page References/Quotes
You are expected to use a few quotations to prove your traits. Anything you use from the book, even if it is paraphrased, must be referenced, as shown above.
Visuality
Is the final product neat? Creative?
***PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE WORKING IN PAIRS, THE MARK WILL BE A COMBINED MARK. INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL IN ONE PERSON'S PORTFOLIO, AND A PHOTOCOPY IN THE OTHER'S. YOU WILL BOTH GET THE SAME GRADE, SO IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO HAS THE ORIGINAL IN THEIR PORTFOLIO.***
